Come T'Burnley Market

GILLIAN

Made with Love, Just for You

I’ve been crafting things for six or seven years now. I started out with jewellery, making Christmas gifts for my family and friends, who encouraged me to start selling the things I made. After running stalls at Christmas markets and craft fairs, I was ready for a more permanent base, so I joined Burnley Market this June. What started as my hobby has become a big family business – my husband helps out with the shop, along with all seven of my kids!

I make all kinds of things – jewellery, headbands, fairy wings – but I think my favourite things to make are tutus and dresses. It was my daughter that inspired me to start making them – I bought her a tutu from a shop, and once I got a good look at it at home, I thought, I could make that! And they cost a fortune in the shops, too.

I wanted my products to be more affordable, but still good quality – something unique and special that you couldn’t find in a big shop. Every piece is different from the last.

I also take custom orders. At the moment, I’ve been getting a lot of Halloween inquiries, but I’ve never done a Halloween costume before, and I won’t ever advertise them. My faith is very important to the brand and I want to stay true to that. I already make a lot of crosses and signs, but I’m hoping to have a whole Christian display up in the run up to Christmas. In the future, I hope the brand will continue to grow with God’s guidance.
